DST No longer needed.

Daylight Saving time is an antiquated concept that isn't needed anymore. It saves no energy in a modern country and only generates lots of unnecessary confusion. The recent addition of a few weeks to the DST period was 'feel good' legislation passed by simpletons who really don't understand science, engineering, or economics, but felt they simply 'had to do something'. At least DST is non-destructive, mostly.

TV 5 General IQ 0

There are many good and sound reasons for DST - perhaps it is confusing is because the steady dumbing-down effect of TV on the global brain is taking its toll.

Daylight Savings

I only wish that Arizona switched to Daylight Savings.

Prof

In Hawaii we do NOT change times twice a year. Guess what? It's great!

Sick of It

I am sick and tired of this time changing. My body clock is very exact and it takes me 6 months to adjust and then it changes again. Pick one and then leave it alone.

The Federal Government and time...

The Federal Government has consistently gotten worse and worse about invading private life, while the individuals we keep electing are among the worst at managing their own money and time. Why do we allow them to tell us what time it should be and trust them to manage our money when they have NEVER managed to pass a budget within our means and constantly take world travel vacations? It's all idiotic how we expect something to change by following a bunch of buffoons rather than reminding them that they need to follow us, as they are the ones who work for us. I guess we get what we deserve and it's no wonder things keep getting worse and worse...

Interesting

I'd always thought DST was a stupid antiquated cultural phenomenon, but this enlightening article has made me reevaluate my stance. Thanks for the excellent explanation.

DST

I like DST and think it should be the standard year round. That puts the light where people can enjoy it the most, at the end of the day.

DST and International Business

With the EU on it's own time, the US doing it's thing, the southern hemisphere having another scheme and equatorial states territories and countries not playing the time-game at all, how does this effect international business transactions?

DST

Tell a newborn the clock has changed! They don't sleep the extra hour (that you need); and they don't go to be an hour earlier (like you would like!)

teri

I love DST and wish we could have it the entire year!
—Guest teri

I hate DST!

I F!@#%!NG hate DST! It only serves to facilitate a general brain-fog. 'Standard Time' is just that; the 'standard'; leave it be!

Shouldn't be a big deal - change your clocks on the specified days, suck it up and deal with the hour lost in the spring (only 1 night), enjoy the long summer and then also enjoy getting that hour back on a chilly night in the fall. I've never had a problem with DST
