No! No! No! Not Again!
- It has only been about 5 years ago when I got this to fill out the last time no I am not talking 2000 census, I thought it was odd then. I did not do it. Then I get a lady at my door, I fill it out with her completely on her laptop. I move into town a year ago, to a different house and now I get it again today, put in a bag on my front door. What this again! Am I not allowed to tell them I have already done this and I will not do this again period. This is just garbage to me, why not my neighbors why only me? I have already given my information once, which I felt the questions were non of their business. What next a census with a blood sample. I just heard on Fox News Channel XM radio on my way home today, that they are talking about a workers card with finger printing and a chip in it, in order to work in this country. Talk about the bible and the end times. What is our country coming too? I don't care if it's a long form or short form, I should not have to do it again.

Number of person in household....
- We will only fill out the number of persons in our household. The government has all of the other information, especially through the IRS. All of the governmental agencies know our race, date of birth, our income ranges, etc....why should we have to fill this information out again? It may be constitutional to have a census every ten years, but it's also our constitutional right not to have to answer all of those questions, other than the number of people in your houselhold!

Intrusive Census - Who Trusts Government
- First I get this letter that says to turn in the census form.... but I have not received the census form until this weekend when someone came to the door. In this day and age, I don't answer the door, unless I have an appt set up. Later that day when I went out, I found a plastic bag on the door knob with a census form. I used to fill out these forms in full, but I am not going to do that anymore. The government is always losing our personal information. They are irresponsible. Ever heard of taxation without representation? Well, that's what is going on so they can't be trusted to secure our personal information. Number of people in a household is ok, but they can't even keep track of voters and whether they are legitmate or not. They don't need any more info then that from me!

Reason for responding to census query.
- I am a geography graduate and understand that this information is needed for the scientific examination of data to make good decisions for all of our benefit. With the fact that we all live in a glass bowl these days there is little good reason to object to the government knowing whether I have 0 1 or 2 or more toilets in my home. The larger and more honest the sampling of data the better the outcome is to those who need it for making decisions for all our betterment.

Following the Law
- There may have been a time when I wouldn't have thought twice about answering all of the questions on the 2010 census but since Obama stuck his ugly nut in the ring I will answer only the head count of the household in accordance with the Constitution of the United States.

Bad just began?
- Laura, You will have to inform us of what began with Obama in your Obamaland scenario. No precedents for what you consider bad? Delusional? You have identified what is called "politics"--the exercise of power. It, too, did not begin with your Obama bogeyman.

Our Pleasure
- My family and I will happily fill out the census form.

Our Descendants Can Benefit
- I will be filling out the census. As a genealogist, I rely on the information my ancestors provided to the censuses in their day. From their responses, I have discovered their identity, which otherwise could have been lost to history. In 72 years (2082), the 2010 Census will be made public - and genealogists will be very grateful for the information we provided.

household number only
- I will only report the number of people in my household. Does anyone trust the gov't anymore?

The Constitution requires an enumeration
- An enumeration is a listing, not just a number. The Constitution give congress the responsibility to make the law (see Title 13) regarding the Census. They ask for names and birthdates to make sure no one is counted twice and to assist with demographic information, not your personal information. It is a $250,000 fine if your personal info is revealed. The deadline to MAIL it back is April 1, not the date for them to receive it, so you can fill it out on April 1 and still send it back in time.

constitution references
- art.I sec.2 speaks of the requirements of a person who wishes to serve as a member of the House Of Representives. attahed to it it tell of how the census shall begin.as well that certian states are names as to how many people can be elected to serve. artical 6 has only one section and nothing about the census. Instead of posting all the reference and their breakdown it would be easier for you to go to http://constitutioncenter.org/633876696043236250.pdf the admendments are included as well and read it for yourself. it is betterto be fully informed by reading the material than by listening to an interpetation by some one else with their spin on it. get informed read it abd learn it

Only the number of people
- I'll fill out the number of people in my home, but that's all. Government is intrusive enough already without voluntarily giving them more information.
- —Guest tampamom25
Same as most of you
- According to the Constitution, the census is to be used for enumeration and apportionment. As such, I will answer only the number of people who reside here and whether they are above or below the legal voting age. That's all they need. They don't need to know my exact birth date, race/ethnicity and gender! They make it clear on the census site itself that they release identifying data sets to certain agencies. We live in a primarily industrial area with very few residences- it would not be difficult to quickly identify us simply by birth date and zip code when cross-referenced with voter registration and other government records. Such data mining is widespread and lucrative- I'm not paranoid, but I'm also not going to aid in the undermining of my own privacy, either.

Protect Your Privacy
- In response to the above reply "American Self-knowledge" I highly doubt census information will quarantee money being allotted to states for what's needed. It depends on which representatives are willing to accept bribes for their votes. The amount is determined according to how much they publically object to a bill and how long they hold out (like government run healthcare). If you believe any different you're certifiably delusional. It's not America anymore, it's Obamaland - because of people like you. April 1st, how appropriate.
