From the article: New Countries of the World
Since 1990, 33 new countries have been created. The dissolution of the USSR and Yugoslavia in the early 1990s caused the creation of most of the newly independent states. Since then, a handful of new countries have gained independence. The most recent new country is Kosovo in 2008. Which country do you think will be the next on the world stage? Which territory or region will gain independence next? Why will that place be next? Where? Why?

united nations

Why should anyone want division? Does it really make sense to have 200 separate nations to quarrel with each other and to waste our precious and fast diminishing resources? The real problems are greed and intolerance. We need to educate our children and control our politicians. Let's make them work for us instead of for themselves. To quote John Lennon of the Beatles in the song IMAGINE.....Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace... You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one....UNITY..ONE WORLD !!! HOORAY FOR THE UNITED NATIONS..HOORAY FOR MANKIND!!!!!

Southern Sudan

It just declared its independence from Sudan, with 98% of the Southern Sudanese population wanting a separate state.

New Caledonia

New Caledonia is eligible for an independence referendum in 2015 and will likely gain independence. btw Southern Sudan will become an independent country on July 9, 2011.

NORTH CYPRUS

CYPRUS ISLAND IS LARGE ENOUGH TO BE DIVIDED Samples: (THE WAY OF HUMAN MIND IS UNIQUE = PARTITION) 1. Saint Martin island (87 km2)= France + Netherland Antilles: The smallest inhabited island divided between two nations! (since 1648) 2. Hispaniola island = Dominican Republic + Haiti (since 1844) 3. Eire island = Ireland + Northern Ireland part of UK (since 1922) 4. Cyprus island = Greek Cyprus + Turkish Cyprus (since 1963) 5. Timor island = Timor-Leste + Indonesia (since 2002) North Cyprus = 3355 km2; and territory of North Cyprus is BIGGER THAN 19 countries of United Nations!

NORTH CYPRUS already

TURKISH (NORTH) CYPRUS governs itself since 1963. Now the reality: Even the president of Greek Cyprus (Rep. of Cyprus) must show his passport to the border police of Turkish Cyprus.

Reunited British Empire.

I believe we will see a monetary union between (at least) UK, Canada, Australia, & New Zealand with future probability of all or some of the other 12 commonwealth realms. At least the "Big 4" may well become a new truly united kingdom. The shared history & military, system of government is essentially the same. I'd like to at least see a monetary union that could rival the Euro or the USD.

Greenland
