He is now the lead coordinator of the Iowa Community-Integrated Geography Organization, the head researcher of the University of Iowa’s Undergraduate Association and a contributor at New Geography.

Interests

With regards to Geography, Jacob’s main interests are economic and demographic geography, urban geography and economics, and the geography of health. He is also fond of visualizations and infographics and can be found attempting to make his own. Other fascinations he has are etymology, epidemiology, biology, and philosophy.

From Jacob

“I can still remember the old globe I received from my parents for my fifth birthday and all of the questions I had about it that weren’t answered for years. The world seemed so vast and formidable, yet I could spin it with my fingertips and hold it in my hands, all while contemplating how any of those lines and letters made sense to anyone. That sense of enchantment hasn’t left me and I still find myself learning new things from a globe. I hope others appreciate my interest for the subject as I continue to be enthralled by it myself.
