Definition: A tropical storm that contains damaging winds of at least 74 miles per hour (119km/h).
Common Misspellings: Also known as a cyclone in the northern Indian Ocean and a typhoon in the western Pacific Ocean.
Examples:
While hurricane season is June 1-November 30 in the Atlantic Ocean, dangerous hurricanes have been known to form outside of those boundaries.
