Exclusive Economic Zone

Definition: The zone of exclusive natural resource (fish, minerals, etc.) exploitation that extends 200 nautical miles into the ocean from the coast of a country. Codified by the 1982 United Nations Conventions on the Law of the Sea.
Also Known As: EEZ
Examples:
There is conflict in Southeast Asia over the EEZs that overlap between island nations such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.
