Alluvial Fan

Definition: A broad, circular fan-shaped deposit of sediments found in deserts where erosional stream channels meet the valley floor and spread out, depositing the stream load.
Examples:
Driving through Death Valley, I saw so very many alluvial fans at the base of where the mountains met the valley, spreading out their gravel as the stream slowed.
