By Matt Rosenberg, About.com

The Bottom Line

This is a well-priced fun puzzle for all elementary school children. Most of the pieces in the cardboard puzzle are shaped like countries. I look forward to puzzles of additional continents.

Pros

  • Most puzzle pieces are the shape of the country
  • Great for younger children
  • Reasonably priced

Cons

  • Once it's put together, you're not likely to do it again
  • Not enough detail or complication for older children
  • Microstates, such as Vactican City and San Marino, are missing

Description

  • Puzzle is 19 inches wide and 16 inches high.
  • Puzzle includes 55 pieces.
  • Puzzle is recommended for those aged four and up.
  • Puzzle is thick cardboard and comes in a nice box.

Guide Review - GeoPuzzle - Europe

This small puzzle includes all of Europe and provides puzzle pieces that are shaped, for the most part, like the country. Each country or piece is a different color and though the level of detail is limited (country name and capital city), the puzzle is fun and educational. I found that the pieces matched nicely and while some were small, once I assembled the borders and installed larger countries like France, Spain, and Germany, everything else fell into place quickly. I highly recommend this puzzle for children - it will certainly help the younger ones to learn the basic geography of Europe.

At the time of this writing, the puzzle maker GeoToys only produces the GeoPuzzle of Europe. I look forward to the release of Asia, Africa, and South America in 2006.

(Matt's note: GeoPuzzle Asia is available as of April 2006)
