World Almanac and Book of Facts

The World Almanac and Book of Facts is my favorite general reference book. Not a day goes by that I lack an instance to refer to it. I frequently look up the handy lists of populations, the collection of great country statistics, and the extensive conversion tables. I even rely on the calendar in the inside front cover more than I do my day planner to look up dates. No home should be without a current edition of the World Almanac. If you have an edition from more than a few years ago, it's time to replace it with a new one. For those homes without any copy, for shame! Order one right away. The World Almanac is indispensable for political data, basic biographical information, awards, sports facts and figures, astronomy, business and economic information, and so much more. The year 2000 edition includes a section devoted to the century and millennium - there are lists of tops from noted experts in a variety of fields. There is also a "20th Century in Pictures" collection of classic photos from the past 100 years. Every year I look forward to the publication of the latest World Almanac. Although I would purchase a new one just for the updated information alone (and the price is still so cheap, you just can't get a better deal on so much useful information), I end up needing a new one just because I wear out the previous year's edition just through normal everyday use. And I do mean, everyday.
