Where are the Baltic States?

Located along the Baltic Sea - Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are known as the Baltic States. These three countries were occupied and annexed by the Soviet Union in 1940 but gained their independence again when the Soviet Union fell in 1991.

Sometimes Poland and Finland, which also lie along the Baltic Sea, are considered Baltic States.

Don't confuse the Baltic States with the Balkan States.
