Megadiversity

Like economic wealth, biological wealth is not distributed evenly across the globe. Some countries hold vast amounts of the world's plants and animals. In fact, seventeen of the world's nearly 200 countries hold over 70% of the earth's biodiversity. These countries are labeled "Megadiverse" by Conservation International and the United Nations Environment Program's World Conservation Monitoring Center.
