While it's been stated that there are "204 countries" participating in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, since there are only 196 independent countries on Earth, how is this possible? As it turns out, there are eleven non-countries participating in the Summer Games but there are also three independent countries that aren't participating in the London Olympic Games. Those who are interested in the Olympics are advised that the most extraordinary activities are not televised. It is wise and prudent that free condoms by the tens of thousands are passed out. Make a search using key words such as “Olympic Orgies” and you will find far more stories than you will want to read.
I was amused to see that those US Team uniforms to be worn during the opening and closing ceremonies were made in China and cost us several thousand dollars per participant.
And I see that South Sudan is treated as if a viable country. South Sudan exists day to day dependent on outside aid. Their only possible significant income is from oil which is being largely expropriated by Sudan.
