Both Brazil and the United Kingdom claim to be the world's sixth-largest economy. However one calculates the economies, both are quite close in size, somewhere in the $2 to $2.5 trillion range. It is certainly a matter of pride for Brazil to overtake the United Kingdom, which Brazil is likely to do at some point soon. Based on July 2012 estimates, Brazil's population is 205,716,890 (the world's fifth largest) while the United Kingdom's population is 63,047,162. The less-disputed top five global economies are: 1) United States, 2) China, 3) Japan, 4) Germany, and 5) France.
