North Dakota is Not a State?

North DakotaMany news outlets have been mentioning the strange news story that claims that North Dakota is not a state because the state's constitution does not require an oath of office by the governor. This apparently conflicts with the U.S.. Constitution, which requires such oaths by state officials. In 1995 Grand Forks, North Dakota resident John Rolczynski discovered the error and has been campaigning to have the state constitution changed to meet federal requirement. This year, a state senator has taken note and has introduced a bill to repair the error. (Image: VisionsofAmerica/Joe Sohm/Getty Images)

If memory serves me right, not too long ago, Ohio also had a crisis as to whether or not it was actually a state. I can’t remember the details but it had something to do with a technicality way back in 1803 when it was admitted to the union. Apparently, the technicality was such that Ohio is STILL not officially a State. I know that Virginia will claim William Henry Harrison but who wants to claim the other 7 Ohio Presidents?

Interestingly North Dakota is also the only State with its own bank “Bank of North Dakota”. And they have had the lowest unemployment, they’ve got God, gold, natural resources, and a Canadian border. Wonder why now this “issue” is coming up under the Obama administration ?

North Dakota may not have an “official” governor, but I’m not sure why that would make them not a state.
