ChildrenThe United Nations Population Division has officially released their 2010 World Population Prospects which includes population projections for individual countries through the year 2100! The UN expects global population to reach seven billion on October 31, 2011, eight billion on June 15, 2025, nine billion on February 18, 2043, and ten billion on June 18, 2083. With these new numbers I have updated my listing of the 24 most populous countries today (those above 50 million in population) and the 20 most populous countries in 2050. I have also created a brand-new list of the 20 most populous countries in 2100, which you won't want to miss!

According to United Nations Population Projections, the rate of increase in Population will slow down from one billion increase in 14 years(2011-2025) to another billion increase in 18 years (2025-2043) to become 9 billion. The next billion increase to happen will take 40 years to become 10 billion. (2043-2083).
I disagree with the decrease in population growth and think that we will reach 10 billion in 50 years time or in the year 2061. No body is sure about the projections because war, diseases and birth control will play an important role in the actual figures.
