The U.S. National Weather Service has determined that April 2011 was not only the worst April on record for tornadoes, it was also the worst month in history. There were "over 600" tornadoes in April 2011, beating the previous record for April with 267 tornadoes in April 1974 and beating the record of 542 tornadoes in May 2003. May is usually the busiest month for tornadoes each year; hopefully May 2011 will not be a record-breaking one.

is it for global warming affect or japan tsunami. for the record number of tornadoes occur in april 2011.
I don’t think it is global warming at all. It is a sign of the times and things are going to get alot worse. People need to open their eyes and realize what is going on and get their lives right with you know who.
Ok, here we go. Another end of the world preaching loony. So what day is it going to end now?

I’ve had an intense interest in tornadoes for years–survived an F-3/4 when I was a kid on Palm Sunday, 1965 and was in a Nebraska motel just a few miles from where the widest (2.5 miles) tornado on record touched down and wiped out the town of Hallam in 2004.
With that said, I’m wondering how the NWS can make the claim in the article so assertively? Consider that every year, new technology is being touted as finding these storms easier and faster. Yet, they are comparing the frequency of twisters in April 2011 with that of April 1974, when the very first tornado with sound was accidentally filmed (audio from a tape recorder left on a porch was matched with 8mm film shot by an amateur). I’m not saying that April 2011 was not a record setter…but then the NWS should add a disclaimer that many twisters in 1974 may have went unnoticed. A few years ago, a tornado had to be actually sighted by a trained observer to be confirmed (or determined from the debris field). Today, a tornado does not even have to touch ground…if technology picks it up, it’s counted as a twister. It’s a bit like comparing apples to oranges, if you ask me.
This past year or so has been really crazy. Records have been broken alot
If you think this past year has been crazy wait til 2012! Save your money and stock pile food cause it’s going down
You dont have to be a religious “looney” to note that every prophecy in the Bible comes true. The Bible does talk about the unpredictability of the seasons and earthquakes becoming more frequent in the end time. The Bible also says that no one knows the time Jesus will return, so if anyone says they know they are not of God . He says watch and be aware that when these things come to pass that the end is approaching. I hope more people turn to God before those days.
