Southernmost Somalia has apparently broken away from Somalia to form a pseudo-country known as Jubaland or Azania. The region, which abuts Kenya, is the third breakaway region in Somalia, after Somaliland and Puntland. Not much is known about the region, although it appears to be supported as a buffer between Somalia and Kenya.

Truly a pseudo-country. al Shabab controls all that territory and I doubt they are willing to give it up.
Matt, a geography article on the regions of Somalia would be more enlightening with a map of the area.
I AGREE. MOST PEOPLE PROBABLY HAVE LITTLE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SITUATION THERE.
This balkanization of Somalia seemed like a good idea until this move. The rise of al-Shabbab as a political entity leading a state could cause issues like those in Gaza. Not to sound like a fear-monger but this move does concern me. It should also concern Kenya and all neighbors.
