Preliminary results of India's 2011 census reveals that the world's second most populous country has grown to 1.21 billion people. India has grown by 181 million people in the past decade (nearly the population of Pakistan) to become as large as the populations of United States, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Japan combined. Preliminary census figures have also revealed that the sex-ratio of boys and girls has reached is most uneven point yet, favoring baby boys. With this new surprising sex-ratio data, the government is sure to act, adding to the already existent prohibition on the use of ultrasound to determine the gender of fetuses in order to prevent gender-specific abortions. India is opening new new coal mines, expanding railroads to carry more coal and buying coal mines and arranging coal deals all over the world because even with their present population hundreds of millions have no electric servvice at all and many more hundreds of million have very little service. India is not alone.
The Kyoto Protocol ( to save us from global warming and other horrors) and subsequent versions (such as Copenhaagen) are frauds yet nobody will say it. Usage of all fossil fuels has gone up dramatically since these pompus declarations and will continue to rise. (And how the US was pilloried for not signing the Kyoto Protocol. So easy to be on the side of the angels – but angels don’t supply electricity.)

When I clicked on “How fast is world population growing?” the example suggests world population is growing from 6 billion. Considering the amount of stories about it, I think readers of this forum are aware we are about to tick over to 7 billion in months. Alas, We got to 6 billion only about12 years ago.
