An impressive total of 99% of those who voted in a referendum on the independence of South Sudan voted for independence. Initial results have been released by Southern Sudan Referendum Commission but will not be finalized for several weeks. Once confirmed, South Sudan will declare independence on July 9, 2011. The world's next new country has yet to determine a new name for itself. The BBC has more.
