The African Union is taking action against one of its own, the AU has requested a complete air and naval blockade of Somalia from the United Nations Security Council. The request for a blockade is an attempt by the AU to reduce the weapons flowing into Somalia to Islamic rebels. The AU also requested that the number of international troops be increased from 8,000 to 20,000.
