New City and Country Rankings

There are lists of city and country rankings published online on a seemingly continuous basis. I don't post them all here but I do try to post them to my Twitter account when I run across them. But, since I discovered several interesting lists today, I thought I'd share them. The first two are from NewGeography.com and are more articles than rankings - The World's Fastest Growing Cities and North America's Fastest Growing Cities. Secondly, the World Economic Forum has produced a new report on gender equality, ranking 1) Iceland, 2) Norway, 3) Finland, 4) Sweden, and 5) New Zealand as the most gender equal countries. Finally, a new report on the World's Most Innovative Cities which ranks 1) Boston, 2) Paris, 3) Amsterdam, 4) Vienna, and 5) New York as the most innovative this year.

Speaking of gender equality, I seem to remember reading recently, that either Rwanda or Burundi has well over 50% women in its national parliament. This is the highest ratio in the world. (So many men there were tragically killed in the genocide).

My husband has recently been teaching making comparisons (in Grammar, ESL) to his elementary classes in the Slovak Republic. They are using all these type of lists. So he will compile more teaching tools, thanks to this post.

Personally, I enjoyed the “Fastest Growing Cities” best. Thanks again!
