Interstate 95, which is the longest north-south interstate highway in the United States, is almost complete. The 1,920 mile highway has a 12-mile gap near the border of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. That gap is being closed but it will be at least seven years before the project is complete. NPR has a related story about rest stops that look more like airports, in the story, That's No Rest Stop, It's A 'Travel Plaza'.

This is a road that I used to take daily. It was only a few years ago that NJ DOT put up those signs shown at the link! I am so happy to read about this.
It is funny that I have NOT seen this in the local news, though.
I actually thought that they gave this up for good when those signs went up. It is very confusing to give directions to anyone -”Take I-95 then I-295…ends and begins…”
even with the signs. As the next viable route is NJ TPK but you get that from I-195 and are going SOUTH to get NORTH!
(BTW- I am ret’d. from NJDOT but this was NOT the work I did…LOL)
