Add Your Laptop to an International Seismic Network

Users of newer laptops with built-in accelerometers can volunteer to join the Quake-Catcher Network, operated by Stanford University and UC Riverside. The downloadable monitoring program is activated when the laptop is in sleep mode and can record earthquakes above magnitude 4. LiveScience has a nice overview of the network.
