Last Monday, the United States Census Bureau began hand-delivering 12 million Census 2010 questionnaires to homes in rural areas without addresses and to homes in Hurricane Katrina-impacted Gulf Coast areas. On March 8, the Bureau will be mailing letters telling residents that they will be receiving a questionnaire in the mail.
Then, on March 15, the United States Census Bureau will be mailing 120 million census questionnaires to homes across the United States. This year's census includes the one of the shortest census forms in history - there are only ten questions on the form as the "long form" has been abolished. The new form should take about only ten minutes to complete and it can be mailed back in the postage-paid envelope provided. While many are very concerned about privacy, the answers to the census are confidential and remain so for 70 years.
