The organization America 2050 has some fascinating content on their site about what they term Megaregions of the huge population cores of the United States and their peripheries. The site also includes some great maps of the Megaregions. The eleven Megaregions are reminiscent of the Nine Nations of North America and include: Cascadia, Northern California, Southern California, Arizona Sun Corridor, Front Range, Texas Triangle, Gulf Coast, Great Lakes, Northeast, Piedmont Atlantic, and Florida.

Dear Matt,

The forecast of the core of expansion in USA by the year 2050 will depend on Global warming. If the Tornadoes, the Tsunamies and the earthquakes will continue to hit the GULF COAST,The tendency of growth in that region will be definitely affected.

Wow, I really like this map. I just have two issues with it: 1. I’m not sure if Kansas City is really “Great Lakes” material. I know that K.C. is well connected via rail to the region but it seems like a stretch. 2. Memphis? Piedmont Atlantic? If you include Memphis in this region, rename the region as Industrial South or Riverports/Piedmont.
