The hunger strike of local politician K. Chandrasekhar Rao has apparently been effective. Rao feels that the economically productive Indian region surrounding the city of Hyderabad should become the state of Telangana. His ten-day hunger strike has caused the national government's Indian Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram to announce that the "process of formation of the state of Telangana would be initiated."

The demand was from a long time and genuine. It is a good step to make a different state, important for multicultural like India to be more federal in character.
Hmmm… Americans throw away a lot of food! If we could only ship that food to say India, there would be no “hunger strikes”. But, how does that effect the price of rice in China? The food that we trow awat each day an a country is over 3 tons! If we give that food to hte Indians, there will be no “hunger strikes”! I’ll stop now so I will not make myself soung stupider.
ONLY 9 tons a day in the entire USA for about 300 million Americans ? That can’t be right. If my calcuations are right, that equates to approximately 1/1,000 of an ounce per American. I would venture that just one single supermarket site alone, might throw out a ton per day of outdated food.
