CNN reports on how Facebook determines which country a specific places is located within. Facebook users choose their location from a pre-approved listing, which is based upon the geographic guidance of the International Organization for Standardization, the United Nations and other global organizations. What do you think about Facebook's policy and how they operate? Should the 300-million user company have a geographer on staff? Thanks to Geo Lounge for the link!

Facebook is doing just fine without a geographer, since any geographer is likely to come from academia, thus likely to try to cram “CE” and “BCE” down our throats.
