I dont mean to sound rude but you have missed off four whole countries. The United Kingdom is not a country, it is as the title suggests a united kingdom of four countries under one monarchy. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all seperate countries with seperate Capital Cities.
Hi Sarah, the various parts of the UK are “countries” but not in the geopolitical sense. State also usually means independent, sovereign state but in the US it doesn’t. That is why no says the US is really 50 separate countries. See England versus Great Britain versus the United Kingdom for a geopolitical breakdown. The Netherlands has the same set up
An interesting piece of trivia is not only Queen Elizabeth II the Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (sadly Wales does not have a king rank but only a price rank) but she is also the queen of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis. And that is not counting her lordships, duchesses, and head of various churches.
Good Quiz!!!!!!!
Nice questions is included in the quiz.
Thanks & Regards
