Rat Island is Rat-Free

The Alaskan island now inappropriately named Rat Island is quite possibly rat-free. In 1780, a Japanese shipwreck on the shore of the island let rats loose, which overtook the local bird population. A multi-agency effort worked to eradicate the rodents from the island.
