tells about the Office of the Geographer, an office located in the United States Department of State. He points to a great article about the Office of the Geographer in the State Department magazine
State called "Map Quest: Office of the Geographer Makes Information Visual."

Would like to know more of “Office of the Geographer” purported to be located in Dept. of State. Is it a bureaucratic anomaly that it’s not under Dept. of Interior? What functions are claimed for it? What address, snail or e-mail? Who fills it? What title? S/Ricko in FL.
It would make sense for the office to be in Interior, but also in Commerce (which runs the census, for example), Education (I wish!), or many others. But it also makes sense to have it in the Department of State, where it has actually been renamed “Office of the Geographer and Global Issues.” Barney Warff was the Geographer for many years; today it is Lee Schwarz, though the State.gov site has very little about him.
