The Sacramento Bee has a special website devoted to global warming and its impact on the Sierra Nevada Mountains. In-depth reporting by the Bee discusses the meting of Sierra glaciers, the impacts on the forests (including fires), and the shortening of the snow season. There's also a blog devoted to the topic.

Just a personal observation which may or may not be a sign of global warming. Last September I took a trip up to Lake Tahoe, as I usually do in the fall. This was the first time I have not seen snow on the mountains around Lake Tahoe. Usually even in September there is some snow still on the north facing slopes of the mountains.

Back in the 1990′s there was a drought that caused many of the trees on the mountains around Lake Tahoe to die. These dead trees were a fire disaster waiting to happen. Now again we are having a drought. Again there will be trees killed by the drought. Hopefully the environmental extremists will allow the dead trees to be removed so there is not another large fire like the one two years ago.
