Iran's largest automobile maker is planning on producing a car specifically for women. The car will include, "An automatic gearbox, electronic parking aids, a navigation system and a jack designed to make it easier to change a wheel, suggesting that women drivers lack the mechanical competence of their male counterparts." What do you think? Post your comments below...

How utterly fatuous. The Iranians have put Madison Avenue to shame, or are they merely mocking us?
Leave it to Iran to do something sexist.
Yes, some women “lack the mechanical competence of their male counterparts.” But certainly not all. And some men also lack mechanical competence.
For me, electronic parking aids are a bad idea because they can make you dependent on them.
But a jack designed to make it easier to change a wheel? Bring it on! Everyone, even “tough guys,” would appreciate the time and energy that it would save.
Will the Iranians invent a car for men that gives automatic directions?
Love Nancy’s comment, I laughed right out loud! I HATE the whole car buying process. I don’t really care what is under the hood, I care about the color of the car and if the heater/ac works good and does it have electric locks. In the past I have changed flat tires, changed the oil, changed blown light bulbs, etc. Anything any car manufacturer can do to make it easier for anyone to keep your car running…I say bring it on!! If they can market it to women, good for the Iranians to think of that first!
it shouldnt be JUST marketed for women. Technology’s purpose is to make things easier why not do it for everyone?
Cars, and tires, are better than than I ever thought they could be. The first car I owned was either a ’28 or ’29 Ford Model A. (People then didn’t have titles to horses so why for cars.) It was a great car but by today’s standards an absolute horror.
First of all if you are halfway prudent the chance of needing to change a tire along the highway is very remote. Second, as it seems cellular phones are ubiquitous – just call for help. On the other hand tire failures were not rare before about 1930 and of course there were no cellular phones.
There were no A/C’s and I didn’t have a car heater for many years thereafter.
Mary, poor baby, I do hope you find a color you like.
I wonder if they actually asked the women what they wanted! In the 1950s, Detroit designed a car for women–featuring lipstick holders and other things the men were sure the women would want. It bombed. A few decades later, they asked women what they wanted, and, as it turned out, what they really wanted was safety features. That’s where minivans came from–and probably where extra airbags came from, too.
Will they price it for a single woman to afford also? AND color matters. Remember the problems you have at the baggage terminal trying to find your luggage out of hundreds that look like yours — check out any parking lot these days — BORING ! ! !
No way that’s insane. People should protest against that…
I think it is great…
Although it is a little sexiest, i do follow the sterotype of the woman driver….i cannot parrallel park, and im directionally retarded. something i tryed to overcome, but sadly…no
I think this would ROCK!
