The Future of Parking

This article from IEEE explores the development of "smart" parking in cities and in parking lots. It describes how those fancy parking garages work to tell you where there are open spaces. While it costs an extra $450 per space to make a smart garage, the garage can operate at 100% capacity instead of the typical garage which is "full" when it is merely 70-80% full. Thus, the technology tends to pay for itself.
