Man Takes Island, Changes Its Status

A man named Stuart Hill, who owns an island off the west coast of the Shetland archipelago, has declared that his island is no longer a dependency of the United Kingdom but is a direct Crown Dependency. The Crown Dependency status means that Hill hopes that the island will not be part of the EU nor subject to the laws of the UK but instead under the direct rule of the queen along with significant local autonomy.
