(1) Not the Foreign Legion says:

The article is about the Legion d’Honneur, an honorary status. The French Foreign Legion is a military organization, officered by Frenchmen but with foreigners in the ranks formed in the 19th century to fight in North Africa and later around the world. Tough fighters, an elite military outfit. Not social climbers like the Legion d’Honneur.
