The Associated Press is reporting that a group of three residents of the Greek island of Lesbos is suing the Homosexual and Lesbian Community of Greece over use of the word lesbian, claiming that it "insults the identity" of the people of Lesbos, who are, according to the article, also known as Lesbians.

Can’t we just say they’re Greeks and leave it at that?
Gee, I live in Georgia. I’m a Georgian. We came first. Think we can sue the country of Georgia?
Yeah, I bet you get confused with Caucasus residents frequently when you call yourself Georgian.
Frankly, this is one of those few specks of litigious behavior that actually makes an iota of sense.
Matt, I did not see a comment link on your “demonym” article, so I’ll leave my comment here. Are not the people of Azerbaijan called Azeris?
Look, James, you ar from State of Georgia (US), and country of Georgia in Caucasus – this country dated since 4th century BC. Well, which georgia is older?
Typical Yank!!

Greeks are the best i mean where would we be without them in modern society! I say vote greek!
I don’t see how the lesbian community would offened anyone. Let love guide our hearts, and let compassion guide us as a people, to form an everlasting era of of peace.
Actually, if you want to get technical, Proud Brit, the Northeren states in the Union are who you would call a Yank or Yankee. Southern US would be confedartes.
***confederates (typo above)
i thought that in ancient times a group of women – who were really ticked off – went to live on Lesbos to teach their men a lesson. it follows some were ‘lesbians’ to start with ..but i think that’s how they got the label..perhaps the greeks should take a history lesson and not offend them again!!
