Brazil Making Rainforest Condoms

By , About.com GuideApril 14, 2008

Follow me on:

A brand-new state-run factory in Brazil's Amazon rain forest will produce condoms made from the rubber from trees. The new factory will help preserve trees in the rain forest and will provide much needed economic stimulus. Brazil has a widespread program for free condom distribution to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Isn’t rubber tapping supposed to shorten the life of the trees?

Anyway, it’s interesting to read that the “stimulus” they’re thinking of is purely economic when a more obvious one is staring them in the face! :-)

the economic viability of the Amazon rainforest is not only significant to the Brazilians but also excellent to the rest of the globe. It’s lucid to comprehend the new invention and that will save as an alternative to other economic raw materials for condoms manufacture! So go ahead and do the best we expect.
