Zimbabwe has issued a new high-denomination bank note - ten million Zimbabwe dollars. The $10 million currency is worth about four U.S. dollars and was issued due to out-of-control inflation in the African nation. The BBC has more.
there seems to be some confusion between million and billion

The email said “billion” in one place, but the article got that fixed. Of course the economic trouble in Zimbabwe came from the racist policies of the leader who insisted on confiscating all farms from whites, even though they worked the farms for generations. Just goes to show that racism and persecution backfires whoever is involved.

This is a reflection of the sorry state of Zimbabwe due to years of misrule by their leader, Robert Mugabe. Millions of Zimbabweans are malnourished and destitute, as they do not understand how to properly operate the farms that were confiscated from White landowners. Life spans and living standards there have plummeted.

10 million = 10,000,000. I do not see the confusion, save for those persons who have to make change for a loaf of bread or a bag of mealie meal.
Zimbabwe, like Uganda, was heralded as Africa’s bread basket and mineral jewell until Bob Mugabe contracted the devastating African Leader for Life Disease. Africa’s demise is too often self-afflicted, and at the expense of so many innocent and misinformed people.

Zimbabwe’s hyperinflation is now estimated at 26,000 percent a year, the world’s highest. Only 20 percent of Zimbabweans have jobs. Some men AND women actually WALK eighteen miles round-trip every day, to work in the capital city (without even a bite of breakfast), because they can’t afford
the bus fare of 10 million dollars round-trip (per day), nearly a whole week’s salary. And they are not allowed to move closer to their jobs. This most bizarre situation is described in detail in the “Washington Post” World News, February 7 (you can read at http://www.washingtonpost.com). National elections are scheduled for March, and President Mugabe may unfortunately be re-elected.

Its unfortunate that some comments herein are outdated. The equivalent of one British pound today is 1,6 trilion Zimbabwe dollars all because of the unfair distribution of our land that we had to repossess from greedy whites and the eveil leadership of Bob Mugabe the despot.
