Attention recreational boaters! The Arctic Ocean could be ice-free during the summer as soon as 2013! The BBC reports on a presentation at the American Geophysical Union meeting that modeled the loss of the ice in the world's northernmost ocean.

Global climate change has always been and will always continue. Consider that the Sahara desert was once covered with forest until global climate change shifted to effect it.

One should not fear global climate change. We cannot change it; we must live with it. Shrinking arctic ice is a good thing. The animals will live in a less harsh climate and those who don’t like it will migrate. People can migrate in and plant crops on that rich soil. The Icelanders already applaud the longer growing season there and embrace it. It will make oil and mineral acquisition easier and countries may continue to fight over it.
Even the real estate brokers will benefit as the land becomes more accessible and acquirable.

Meanwhile, farther south the N.E. and the N.W. are cover in snow with projections for another long, harsh winter as was last year in the N.E. The Northern affluent will continue to move south and the illegal Mexican immigrants will move north and fill in the gaps. Life goes on.

I have to wonder how the alarmists, politicians, media and scientists would have reacted when the tropical climate of Antartica disappeared. Of course, not a soul has publicly offered thought as to how Continental Drift has contributed to global warming…a couple of inches drift each year would add/detract considerably to ocean influence on global change.

Why do people get so angry over this issue? What is the harm in the thought that humans are possible speading up or making global warming worse.

Pelase understand I am not a ‘tree-hugger’. I drive a non-fuel efficient pick-up and don’t always remember the environemnt in making decisions. But, I try to make sure that I am not damaging the earth as much as possible.

Even if global warming is natural, which I believe it is, how can we ignor the fact that we could be making is worse? Are you telling me that car emmisions, etc. are having no negative effects on the earth?

PLease, don’t get so angry, and just accept humans don’t always do positive thngs to this planet, and that maybe we can improve things just a little bit for future generations.

(5) Jeff says:

We need to change our lifestyles. The problem is we are too modern that changing lifestyles is equal to going to the middle ages. While we are changing our lifestyles, the governments need to find new energy sources like solar energy and palm oil etc. It is heartbreaking seeing the next generation and animals facing extinction.
