British Teeth Not as Bad as Widely Believed

A British public health study has revealed that among 12 year-olds, the United Kingdom's teeth aren't as decayed, missing or filled as often as the teeth of many other European Union countries and are even actually better than the teeth of 12 year-olds in the United States! The study showed that Eastern European teeth suffer the most across the EU.

I think the biggest hit we give Brits and their teeth is the lack of orthodontia. Their teeth may be healthy, but crooked teeth go uncorrected. In the US, it seems every kid has their teeth straightened – and adults, too, if they missed the boat as kids. It’s a handicap for British actors trying to break into Hollywood – if they don’t have naturally straight teeth, they are out of luck. My favorite, Ewan McGregor, has pretty good teeth but gets regularly slammed for them not being perfect.
