America's Favorite Cities

By , About.com GuideOctober 20, 2007

Follow me on:

Travel and Leisure Magazine and CNN Headline News polled more than 60,000 Americans on their likes and dislikes about twenty-five major U.S. cities. They have ranked these cities into a plethora of lists. The lists include the cities with the most attractive residents (Miami is #1), the safest cities (Santa Fe), the cities with the best museums (Washington D.C.), most intelligent citizens (Seattle), the best singles scene (Austin), the best city for a wild weekend (New Orleans), and so much more. I don't particularly care for their choice of the twenty-five; two of the ten largest cities in the U.S. are not on their list (Houston #3 and San Jose #10).

It doesn’t really surprise me that San Jose isn’t on that list as it usually tends to get grouped in with San Francisco in terms of traveling. I’m glad to see that two of my favorites, Portland and Seattle, made the list though!

I’m surprised Pidgeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee didn’t make the list. They are very big vacation spots and by far my favorite.

What a scam the “pick your best place to live” link is…it’s nothing but an ad lure, and they never do tell you where to live. A waste of time!!
