China is angered over the elite and rich of the nation flaunting the One Child Law by paying fines and dealing with the economic consequences of multiple children. Thus it is being reported that the country will assess fines based on the income of the violators. The province of Hunan has discussed a law that would charge eight times the annual income of a couple that have multiple children.

That’s outrageous! They can’t fine people just because they have mulitple children. It’s unfair, but that’s how China is. Living in the USA gets better and better each day. My friend was left on bridge to be found because her real parents already had a child. The communist government of China shouldn’t fine people over what they decide to do. They may make the rules, but if people want to have children, that’s their decision.
A draconian measure badly needed in dire circumstances. China is preserving the environment by limiting the number of children people can have. It has a myriad of negative consequences on society, but it will pay dividends someday (already). Just look at India where they breed like rats and tell me that China needs to grow its 1.3B population.
In a country of 1.3 Billion people, a couple having more than one child is selfish, and a luxury China can not afford.
It is easy to sit here in the U.S. and condemn the Chinise government, but these same people probably complain about the illegal immigration from Mexico, caused by Mexico’s uncontrolled birthrate.
The one child policy…well most parents want boys. The percentage of boys born in rural area is astouding, some villages have no girl children. If China wants to have a one child policy, they should not allow parents to have the child tested for sex, and be allowed to abort/murder girls.

China’s National Population and Family Planning Commission Director Zhang Weiqing has warned that the country might be facing a “population rebound” as a result of a widening wealth gap and an increase in early marriages in rural regions, Xinhuanet reports (Xinhuanet [1], 5/6). China’s one-child-per-family policy seeks to keep the country’s population, now 1.3 billion, at about 1.7 billion by 2050. Methods of enforcing the policy, such as fines and work demotions, vary among Chinese provinces and cities (Kaiser Daily Women’s Health Policy Report, 4/24).
According to China’s constitution, men are allowed to marry at age 22 and women at age 20. The family planning policy encourages late marriages and late childbearing, Xinhuanet reports. “Early marriages are still prevailing in some parts of the country, especially in rural areas, which goes against the family planning policy,” Zhang said. A recent survey by the family planning commission found that an increasing number of wealthy people and celebrities — who are able to pay the fines for breaking the one-child policy — are having more than one child.
Zhang also said that young couples born in the 1970s and 1980s and raised as only children are allowed to have a second child, which also is contributing to the rising birth rate in some central and western provinces. Zhang said the commission will continue to offer preferential services to couples who follow the family planning policy (Xinhuanet [1], 5/6).
Rural Women Who Have Multiple Births Face Health Risks, Official Says
Chinese Vice Health Minister Jiang Zuojun in Beijing at a recent national conference on women and children called for increased attention on rural women who decline to seek professional maternal services after their first birth because they fear legal punishment for breaking the country’s one-child policy, Xinhuanet reports. According to Xinhuanet, some rural families violate the policy because of an “underdeveloped social security network” and a “deeply rooted traditional preference for male” children.
“Some policy-breaking pregnant women, who dared not apply any financial aid of childbearing for fear of legal punishment, chose to deliver babies at home or in substandard private clinics, which charge little but have more medical risks,” Jiang said. He added the government plans to increase penalties for rural clinics that provide substandard maternal care and work to build rural medical facilities.
But, that’s not all! Read this pack ‘o lies!
Local departments of health, women and children, civil affairs and public security should collaborate to reduce rural maternal deaths and to provide proper health services to rural women living in cities, Jiang said (Xinhuanet [2], 5/6).

China is one of the biggest countries in the world! Abortion is killing a baby! “Having an abortion doesn’t make you ‘un-pregnant’, it MAKES YOU THE MOTHER OF A DEAD BABY, ALONG WITH 50 MILLION OTHER MOTHERS OF DEAD BABIES IN tHE U.S.A.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No offence but I think that controlling the population is necessary. We think our country is so great with the freedoms we have, but there is a great problem here. To many people are having children in large numbers and cant care for them. Our welfare system is out of control because of it. Let’s not knock China for controlling thier population. After all, they might be on to something. I guess you are not familiar with the court systems. We need some type of control.
Population control is a must! The world is already overpopulated, and if people are allowed to reproduce like rabbits it will only get worse. China’s law/policy should be followed in other countries, including the United States and India!
Yes, the idea of only being able to have one child may suck, but there are bigger issues than that. Our Earth is reaching its carrying capacity and that will only cause more problems for everyone living on Earth if that does happen.
acctualy MJG…they can and do.maybe they didn’t get your memo.
i think that is unfair because they are living there life and not living it the way they want to and they should be able to have as many kids as they want to because they are not having th kid or anything so they should just let them have a life they would actually injoy thanksss!
