Hurricane Felix Reaches Catastrophic Category Five

Infrared Image of Hurricane Felix, Courtesy NOAA Hurricane Felix, the sixth named storm of the 2007 hurricane season has reached Category Five status, the highest and most dangerous category of the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale. The U.S. National Hurricane Center is reporting that Hurricane Felix's winds are at 165 mph (above the 155 mph winds required for Category Five status).

As of early Monday, potentially catastrophic Hurricane Felix was located in the Caribbean Sea and moving west toward Honduras with coastal landfall projected for Tuesday. After following the northern coast of Honduras, Hurricane Felix is projected to move into Belize and Guatemala on Wednesday and weaken as it moves into Mexico on Thursday.
