Miss South Carolina Teen USA was asked recently why one in five Americans can't find the United States on a map. Unfortunately, that statistic is entirely inaccurate. According to the recent National Geographic-Roper Public Affairs 2006 Geographic Literacy Study, “Nearly all (94%) young Americans can find the United States on the world map, and Canada (92%) and Mexico (88%) are nearly as familiar.” The judges of Miss Teen USA should have gotten their facts straight! Only three in fifty Americans can't find the U.S. on a world map.

This proves what we have long suspected…neither the questions nor the answers in these cattle calls are legitimate. Not to worry though, I’m sure Miss Upton will easily gain entry into the sorority of her choice at Clemson.
Yeah, some stats try to make US citizens look stupid, but actually many of those statistics are totally inaccurate.
This just demonstrates that 80% of Americans can’t do math and 95% of statistics are made up on the spot.
Americans are stupid.
-We are ranked 14th to 25th in the world in reading, science, and math.
-We have the highest percent of people who accept Creationism and reject the scientific reality of evolutionary theory of all the industrialized nations except Turkey.
-We have school boiards (Texas) that remove reference to Thomas Jefferson because of his coining the term, and his stance on the “Sep. of Church and State” … little wonder why not one in 10 highschool strudents know who the author of the Declaration of Independence was.
- We have a high percentage of voters who actually believed a mindless ignorant unread woman VP candidate was qualified to be next in line for the Presidency, and leader of the free world, when she didn’t know Africa was a continent and not a country.
Yes, Americans are stupid. We are willfully stupid, and that’s the worst kind of stupid.
