Exporting Prisoners

Wednesday August 1, 2007
The states of Hawaii, California, Idaho, North Dakota, Vermont, Alaska, and Arizona have an unusual export - prisoners. These states export some of their prisoners to other states, often to private correctional facilities, to relieve overcrowding. Federal officials estimate that 10,000 state inmates are serving time outside their home state. A full third of Hawaii's inmates are serving time on the continent. The New York Times has more.

Hi Matt! I like your page, is very nice. I dont know why people have beef with geography, it’s a pretty straightforward study.

Hi Matt,
I have enjoyed your post for years now. I would like to thank you for teaching me about Geography. I also enjoy taking the quizes, but however the latest quiz that I tried took me to a vendor site that I did not like. I hope you return to the old format where we can just enjoy the quizes without being forced into accepting consumer offers that we are not ready for.
Thank you,
Manny.
