Since 2004, Taipei 101 has held the title of the tallest building in the world. Unfortunately, it would appear that it will lose that title in about a year once Burj Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is completed in 2008. Burj Dubai has just reportedly surpassed Taipei 101 in height. However, until Burj Dubai opens next year, Taipei 101 remains the tallest building in the world. Americans don't need to get too depressed as two U.S. building still make the list - for now...

Why is the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada not included on this list? According to the CN Tower website, it is the World’s Tallest Building at 553 metres (1815 feet). What has been the reason for its exclusion throughout the years?

CANUCKAPHOBIA? Jealousy?
Actually a ‘tower’ is not a ‘building’, but it really is a trivial point. Canada is still #1 and ‘No’ I am not Canadian.

Hi Rob! Indeed, the CN tower is a tower and not a building.
