Spain and Morocco have been working together for the past few months to plan a high speed rail tunnel between the two countries and under the Strait of Gibraltar. While the cost is extreme ($6.5 to $13 billion) and the water deep (3000 feet), the project could be completed as early as 2025. At its narrowest, the Strait of Gibraltar is 8 miles (13 km) wide. The Washington Post reports.
