Single Women on the East Coast; Single Men in the West

Catholicgauze provides a fantastic map from National Geographic showing the places where single women outweigh single men or vice-versa. The map clearly shows that cities in the West have predominantly more single men than women while cities on the East Coast have more single women than single men.

Yeah, lots of single women in my area, but they are almost all over 60 and overweight!

Interesting artical about the singel person ratio–I would like to see the singles that were married but newly single –divorce or widowed. I bet there would be even more women on the east coast. We like the beach and long walks in the south.

I live in the west, and there are a lot more men than women. Which is frustrating here in, Colorado where there is so much to do, but no one to share it with, so come out here ladies.

I haven’t read this article but I do believe there’s a shortage of males on the east coast. I live in the central florida area and there is with out a doubt a male shortage with in my age range, I’m 32 so with in 5 years older and younger range.

It sucks in NYC for hetero chicks. The guys here are completely vain self-involved assholes spoiled by the high hetero woman to HETERO man ratio as well as the entertainment/media and fashion industries (and in general the high population of amazing women everywhere here). A male friend of mine just got back from SF and mentioned how bizarre the lack of hot women there was, in comparison to here. It’s ridiculous and I am leaving for the Midwest forever. I’m a native New Yorker in my thirties, I’ve modeled for an agency, I read Russian novels for fun, and have still never been treated well by a decent man who lives here. NYC can kiss my ass.

What we need, geographers, is an interactive map. Plug in an age range, perhaps a sexual orientation and an educational level, etc. and the map shows the single males to single female ratio for your age and preferences. It won’t give the whole story, but it will help. Obviously, if the surplus of single women is mostly over 60 some place, and in fact there’s a deficit in relation to younger men, it is a different story than if the imbalance is even across the board.

It ought to be possible to construct such a map with a special run of census data or even the 2% microsample.

I live in the Boise area, horrible ratio, not very many single women. I am moving somewhere on the east coast.
