The Shrinking of the Dead Sea

The Dead Sea, on the border of Israel and Jordan, has been shrinking over the past few decades due to diversion of fresh water in the Jordan River and the Sea Galilee. The Times Online reports on a controversial new plan to stop the death of the Dead Sea by pumping in sea water from the Red Sea via a 125-mile canal. Hat tip to GIS Sites for the article.
