The United States claims that the waterways of far northern Canada are an international waterway but Canada insists that the waterway known as the Northwest Passage is within their territorial waters and thus under their complete control. The U.S. argues that the Northwest Passage is an internationally utilized route and should be open to all. The Washington Post reports and even provides a nice map!
